Hi, there, SITEL fan! Ready for your next big wins?
It’s that time of year when everybody goes on and on about their “New Year’s Resolutions”. This may sound like a cliché, but resolutions are none other than goals you set for yourself, or the ideas of what you wish to have accomplished by a specific date… so it is a very important thing to consider.
In this entry we want to encourage you to pursue your dreams and make 2019 the most successful year of your life yet! So go ahead and follow these three tips we suggest for a fierce 2019.
- Believe in YOURSELF.
Success starts within YOU. Sure, what you may think of ‘success’ may differ considerably from your mom’s or best friend’s definition of it, but in the end what really matters is that you have a clear vision of where you want to go, or where you see yourself down the road. With that vision in mind, ask yourself, ‘Am I doing everything I should or could be doing to fulfill that vision?’
Disappointed? Now is the time to start. Frustrated? Now is the time to restart. Doubtful? Now is the time to step out of your comfort zone and dare to dream!
In determining what it is that motivates you… think of those rewards or situations that will make you feel accomplished, fulfilled, HAPPY—BE BOLD! Sitel encourages its big family of associates to BE BOLD, and by this we mean, daring to be different, open-minded and passionate. Don’t just remain attached to whatever it is they taught you when you were little or what society says is the norm. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT and dare to dream!
If you stumble along the way, do NOT feel discouraged! Learn from any setbacks that might have happened and move on! Resist, persist, and be consistent! Sure, there are things that might be out of your control, but it is up to you to view them as opportunities to learn, and a motivation to start all over again with renewed energy and a whole new vision. Try and experiment with new approaches or avenues to tackle problems and capitalize on your strengths. Focus on the things that you have control of.
Don’t just leave your life to chance, act upon it! You have to be fierce in pursuit of your happiness or your idea of success! Visualize yourself in that holiday destination, picture that beautiful family you want to start, imagine that special gift you’ve wanted to give yourself after months and months of hard work and dedication. That palpable vision will inspire you to accomplish your goals, keeping you fired up every step of the way until you reach them.
The path you take towards your goals might become tricky at times, so that’s why it’s important to surround yourself with interesting, like-minded individuals who will keep you focused and on-track. Here in SITEL, such a positive environment exists amongst our FLIP associates, who encourage one another to maintain English-only interactions as they work together towards their goal of polishing up their English skills.
- Your goals should be SMART:
Goals matter. Famous Hollywood actor Denzel Washington said in one of his most famous speeches: “You have dreams, [but] dreams without goals remain dreams”. So that goes to show why it is important to work in an organized manner, not out of impulse or motivated by the heat of the moment. Goals you set out to accomplish should be SMART:
- Specific That means a goal has to be well defined and very clear to you. For example, say you want to improve your English proficiency skills. In this case, you must say that you will have obtained an English certificate by year’s end.
- Measurable, meaningful. The goal you have in mind should be obtainable. Also, you should be able to foresee how far away completion is. This way, it should be easy to find out when you have achieved your goal.
- Agreed upon, achievable. If learning or improving your English proficiency is what you wish to accomplish this year, you have to be convinced about it and devote your energy and creativity into it.
- Realistic, relevant, reasonable… within the availability of resources, knowledge and time.
- Time-based, timely, trackable. Allow yourself enough time to achieve the goal, not too much time, though!
Goals help you make decisions, too. You will likely choose activities more aligned to your goal.
Work out, eat healthy and sleep well! Be kind to your body, the better you treat it, the better you will feel and you will reap better benefits in all aspects of your life. Do some push-ups, cardio, dance, weight training, for at least 30 minutes daily. If you have time for TV or Facebook, surely you will have time to release some endorphins! Remember, sweat is fat crying.
Here at SITEL we are excited about helping you reach your goals, whether it is by helping you improve your English level through our unparalleled FLIP program, or by helping you build a successful professional career. Remember, dare to dream! Good luck and see you soon in SITEL Nicaragua!
